Last weekend was the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, a staple holiday in Australia’s calendar. I managed to wangle an extra day off from work, so we hired a camper trailer from Campezy and headed out to Rover Park near Tenterfield for the Battle of the States 2015. For those of you who don’t know what this is, let me paint a picture for you. Remember that scene in the first Fast and Furious film where they are having that giant party/race meet in the desert? The first holiday that we ever took our son on was a camping holiday. We went out into the bush, slept in tents and cooked over wood fires. And now that’s all we hear about.
“Daddy, don’t go to work. Let’s go camping.”
